The Men of Purpose is the active men’s ministry at Bethel Church, Choctaw. One of the most exciting initiatives we currently have is our New Commandment Men’s Ministry. This is a ministry where the men are divided into teams or 3 or 4 and each team has one or two widows or single parents they care for. These men get together one Saturday a month and go to their care receivers home and work for 3-4 hours on things the care receiver isn’t able to fix themselves. They pray for their care receivers and develop long term relationships with them. We believe this is fulfilling our Lords words in Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” This ministry is also what James described as “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” (James 1:27).
