If…Then…

I love reading Proverbs.  I remember in the spring of 1977 my girlfriend (the current Mrs. Anita Fife) and I decided we would get married that summer. When we told our parents they were initially less than enthusiastic because we were so young (18 years old); but I think some 37 years later they are “okay” with it! My love for Proverbs came out of that decision to get married.  You see, my soon to be mother-in-law asked us both to read through the book as a means to garner some knowledge and wisdom, since 18 year olds aren’t known for their abundance of sagacious thinking.  I complied and absolutely fell in love with the book. So occasionally I want to share some of my favorite Proverbs to give us all some much needed advice and wisdom as these Proverbs are “timeless.”

“If you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth, then do this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen into your neighbors hands: Go and humble yourself; press your plea with your neighbor!”
(Proverbs 6:2-3 NIV)
